2006 Alois Lageder Pinot Grigio

The Alois Lageder didn't transport me virtually back to Italy the way the Marco Felluga did, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it.  Straw yellow with a hint of green (signaling a cooler growing climate), it's got a flowery aroma with honeydew melon and fresh herbs.  It needs to open a bit, but once it does it has a nice rich flavor that is slightly smoky but has a good, fresh finish.  Frankly, I'm surprised it only received 85 points from Robert Parker because I've definitely tasted others that aren't as good but received higher scores.

I'm giving it 3 corks popped....

You can find it at BevMo for $16.99/bottle.

Cheers!
